Tropic Indulgence

Resplendent in its tropical setting, and inspired by the inimitable signature styling of Raffles, this stately dwelling is ideal for making the most of the Queensland climate.

Majestic timber and glass doors suggest another time, another place. Graceful curving lines of the minaret-shaped transom are echoed in yet another dazzling artifice inside – a striking concave, variegated copper stonework feature wall.
Exceptional timber joinery throughout cleverly mixes magnificent recycled timber posts, the oriental influence of timber framed Shoji screens, as well as windows, louvres, bi-folds and slatted exterior screening that frame the movement and beauty of the tropical landscaping beyond.

In its kitchen-par-excellence generous black granite bench tops, lustrous cabinetry, stainless steel appliances and bronzed mirrored splash backs capture and reflect the light.

Both bathroom and ensuite present oases of calm.  The cool chalk tones of the stone and tile work are warmed and tastefully ornamented by the use of timber and inclusion of random stonework feature panels. The client specifically requested that glass shower screens not be part of the design.

This house offers as much of a temptation to live outdoors, as it is a delight to live in.  The expansive rear deck provides flexibility and serviceability, creating additional ‘room space’ and embracing the idyllic climate and environment, yet sheltered from the elements by slatted timber screens.

Images of Raffles, gin slings and the indolent atmosphere of the Orient entice.
